Location

Lions Gate Apartments is located in the beautiful city of Davison, Michigan. Davison is approximately ten miles east of the city of Flint on the eastern border of Genesee County. Davison is part of the Flint Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is the fourth largest in terms of population in the State of Michigan. The City of Davison offers residents an outstanding school system and prime location just north of the Interstate 69 along State Road M-15. I-69 is a major thoroughfare connecting Port Huron to the state borders of Michigan and Indiana. M-15 allows residents easy access to Bay City and the Saginaw Bay to Clarkston, Michigan and Oakland County. Once considered a small farming community, Davison is quickly becoming a sprawling urban landscape. The city and surrounding area has seen an influx in commerce as more and more businesses are relocating from Flint to the surrounding communities, such as Davison.

The residents of Davison enjoy safe neighborhoods, reputable school system and a wealth of amenities. Its location along I-69 and M-15 allow residents access to beautiful recreation areas such as the beaches along the Saginaw Bay, Lake Huron and the St. Clair river in Port Huron to the entertainment and retail centers in the suburban communities of Clarkston, Auburn Hills, Grand Blanc, Flint and Burton. Davison has maintained consistent population and employment growth over the past twenty years and is anticipated to maintain this strong historical trend will into the future.

Lions Gate Apartments is located on Irish Road, just north of the Irish Road/I-69 interchange and one-half mile form the Meijer Thrifty Acres, which opened in the fall of 2008. General Motors Corp.

General Motors Corp. / Motors Liquidation company is the largest employer in the Flint metro area supporting 8,330 jobs. The company's manufacturing operations have a significant impact on the state, and over 20 industries supply billions of dollars in goods and services to GM's assembly and components plants. Since 2009, GM has invested $2.8 billion in their Flint complex. The plant recently completed a $600 million addition to their paint shop and announced plans to invest another $900 million to expand their body shop, significantly increasing production.

Hurley Medical Center

The region is home to three major medical centers which support approximately 9,300 direct jobs. The Genesys Health System, Hurley Medical Center, and McLaren Flint hospitals also conduct medical education and research at their facilities. The health care sector has an economic impact of more than $2.2 billion on the region. Approximately 17 of every 100 jobs in the state are health care related. The McLaren health System recently invested approximately $78 million in to a new proton beam cancer treatment facility and patient residence.

University of Michigan - Flint Campus

Genesee County is home to Baker College-Flint, University of Michigan-Flint, CS Mott Community College, and Kettering University. These educational facilities serve over 26,340 students and support over 8,000 jobs in the region. According to a recent report, the state's education industry provided 374,200 direct jobs, over two times that of Michigan's auto manufacturing jobs in 2016. In September 2016, UM officials approved $500 million in construction and renovation projects at its three campuses, which includes adding 65,000 square feet to Flint's science building.

Downtown Flint

Tourism has a $129 million economic impact on the region. Genesee County offers 11,000 acres of woods, waters, trails, and beaches; 21 golf courses; museums; restaurants; sporting events; and entertainment venues. Downtown Flint welcomes over one million visitors every year. The city hosts many annual events attracting thousands of visitors including: flint Jazz Festival, Buckham Alley Fest, Back to the Bricks. Bikes on the Bricks, Crim Festival of Races, and the Flint Art Fair. AreaVibes awarded Flint an A+ for its abundance of local amenities.

Construction and Development

GM Paint Shop

In October 2016, General Motors (GM) completed a $600 million paint shop addition at its Flint assembly plant. The 596,000-square-foot building was GM's largest investment in Flint in more than a decade. The paint shop expansion supported approximately 750 construction jobs and generated 150 new jobs. In May 2016, GM announced plans to invest another $900 million to expand its Flint assembly plant, adding a 800,000-square-foot-body shop north of GM Flint Metal Center. The addition is expected to enable 50 more vehicles to be assembled, on top of the current 32 built every hour at Flint Assembly. Over the next two and a half years, hundreds of construction workers, electricians, and plumbers will be needed for the project.

Genesys Health Park

The Genesys Health Park master plan calls for major developments that will add up to nearly $500 million in Grand Blanc through the year 2026. Some of the proposed projects include: a $106 million retirement community, a veterans hospital, a Genesys Athletic Club, Doty Highway Extension, and a mixed-use center featuring retail, restaurants, and hotels. In addition, the proposed Life Sciences Research and Development Institute is expected to generate 4,000 high-paying jobs.

Karegnondi Water Authority

Work is currently underway on a $267 million project that will bring water form Lake Huron to Flint and Genesee County. The 67-mile pipeline will supply drinking water to more than 2,400 square miles along Michigan's Interstate 69 corridor. The project will generate approximately 1,100 jobs at its peak. Genesee County will be ready to draw water after its treatment plant finishes construction, and Flint will be able to connect to the treatment plant once it meets state and federal standards. In June 2016, lawmakers approved an additional $165 million more in aid, including money to replace thousands of underground lead pipes that carry water into homes.
